During May of this year Adamstown Uniting Church became the venue for a series of art installations that is being held over a period of six months by a range of respected and diverse Australian artists. The series is entitled ‘Altar/d’ and allows for a conversation with art works that are presented as the central visual focus for the worship space.

Heat Wave in Tamil Nadu / Sandra Maa

Sandra Maa Heber Percy, a resident of Tiruvannamalai in Tamil Nadu State, South India - at the base of the sacred mountain Arunachala - contributes this dramatic photo and writes:

The heat wave continues.
Locals tell me it was not this hot 10 years back and wonder what it will be like in 10 years.
Old people die like flies.

Many of those resident in Tiruvannamalai are devotees of the modern sage Sri Ramana Maharshi who lived and taught there. Arunachala, known as the Holy Hill, is a Hindu sacred site where Siva manifested. This whole region is undergoing a ferocious drought.

Now, approaching the Christian festival of Pentecost, (and borrowing language from Michael Jagessar's post) — a prayer:

O WIND-RUSH GOD....HELP US TO PRESERVE OUR PLANET AND ITS PEOPLES
